Brock Purdy led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl last year against the Kansas City Chiefs but fell short of leading his team to an upset victory as Patrick Mahomes and company took control in overtime.

Purdy threw for 255 yards and a touchdown against Mahomes and the Chiefs, but it wasn’t enough to secure a Super Bowl victory.

The former Iowa State Cyclone’s ceiling as a football player and leader have been questioned since with fans wondering whether he has what it takes to lead the 49ers to their sixth Super Bowl title.

This weekend, a photograph of Purdy’s enhanced, “jacked” physique has gone viral, receiving over 550,000 views as of the early hours of Sunday morning.

Purdy, one of the NFL’s shortest quarterbacks who is generously listed at 6-feet-1 inch tall, suddenly appears to have the physique of a body builder or MMA fighter based on the photograph that was posted.

With enhanced competition starting to form in the NFC from rising young teams like the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and others, the 49ers will need every advantage they can get to make it back to the 2025 Super Bowl.

Purdy ran for 144 yards last season season, 131 more than the previous season, while averaging 3.7 yards per carry compared to 0.6 the previous season.

If Purdy can become the scrambling threat he was in the Big 12 during his college days with the Cyclones, during which he ran for 1,177 yards in four seasons (averaging a career-high 4.4 yards per carry in 2022), the 49ers’ offense could become more consistent as a result, especially in big games.

The 49ers will open the 2024-2025 season at home vs. Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets at Levi’s Stadium.
