The Michigan Wolverines are ranked number 22 in the country heading into the 2022-2023 college basketball season, coming off of their fourth straight Sweet 16 appearance and second under Head Coach Juwan Howard.
Despite Michigan’s impressive postseason, the team’s record was just 19-15 on the season, showing that there is clearly room for improvement.
One of the ways Howard and his coaching staff are hoping to improve is through recruiting.
Michigan brought in a tremendous 2022 class that included four four-star players and is ranked #10 in the nation according to Scout.com, led by PG Dug McDaniel and SF Jett Howard, the latter of which started in the team’s recent exhibition game in France.
Now, Jett’s father Juwan Howard has secured a commitment from the team’s second prospect for the 2023 class — a recruiting coup especially considering his previous pledge to the rival Ohio State Buckeyes.
Four-Star Point Guard Chooses Michigan
Point guard George Washington III has announced that he has chosen the Michigan Wolverines, according to reports from various outlets.
Washington III is a former Ohio State commit who has been ranked in the top 50 recruits in the country and is listed as a four-star prospect.
Washington is currently ranked as the number 106 prospect in the country according to 247Sports.com, and joins center Papa Kante as the second four-star recruit out of two total recruits in Michigan’s 2023 basketball recruiting class.
Washington said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play for Howard, the rising star coach who has aspirations of leading the Wolverines to a national championship victory.
