The Michigan Wolverines are loaded at the quarterback position, with former four-star and Big Ten championship winning incumbent Cade McNamara battling it out for the starting job with former five-star J.J. McCarthy.

In one of the most ‘unusual’ decisions in recent major college football history, McCarthy will start game two against Hawaii following McNamara’s start against the Colorado State Rams this past Saturday.

Among the expected visitors to the Hawaii game is Jadyn Davis, a highly-touted prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and other major college programs.

Ranked as anywhere from a four-star to a five-star himself, Davis had high praise for Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, which could signal his preferred destination when it comes time to sign on the dotted line for his college choice.

Five-Star Prospect: “I Would Run Through a Brick Wall for That Man”

Davis, a class of 2024 prospect who hails from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, had the following to say about Harbaugh, noting his unique personality and motivational abilities.

“(Harbaugh) is definitely different, but once you get to know him, he’s very funny,” Davis said. “But he doesn’t BS and will tell you how it is. Some people call him awkward, and I can understand that part.

“But then again, he’s a very good man and I love him as a coach. I would run through a brick wall for that man. My family also loves Coach Harbaugh.”

“It’s been a great experience at Michigan,” Davis said according to Mlive.com after a campus visit.

“Anything that you want as a recruit, they did it on those visits. It’s definitely a lot more fun to go on visits with teammates, so it was great going up there with them. That way there’s a possibility for everyone to build that same connection.

“It was great getting my family to know the coaches too. Ann Arbor is a great place too. It’s going to also be great to watch them this fall.”

Davis had an impressive start to the 2022 season, showing off all of his skills at the quarterback position including an impressive set of wheels, not unlike current Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy.

Davis said he’s looking forward to watching the Wolverines as they compete for back-to-back Big Ten championships in 2022-2023.

The Hawaii game will be his third on-campus visit thus far, as Michigan continues to make him a priority for becoming the team’s possible successor to McCarthy and McNamara.

“It’s been a great experience at Michigan,” Davis said. “Anything that you want as a recruit, they did it on those visits. It’s definitely a lot more fun to go on visits with teammates, so it was great going up there with them.

“That way there’s a possibility for everyone to build that same connection. It was great getting my family to know the coaches too. Ann Arbor is a great place too. It’s going to also be great to watch them this fall.”
