Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a sensational 2023-2024 season, leading the Detroit Lions to the NFC Championship game while amassing the second most passing yards in the National Football League behind Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins.

Goff’s 4,575 passing yards were a surprise to much of the NFL. For Goff, Lions Coach Dan Campbell, GM Brad Holmes, owner Sheila Ford Hamp and the rest of the Lions’ franchise leaders, Goff’s outstanding season hardly came as a surprise.

Goff threw for over 4,600 yards in back-to-back seasons from 2018 to 2019 before racking up back-to-back 4,000 plus yard campaigns from 2022-2024.

With expectations sky-high entering the 2024-2025 season, fans expected Goff to be highly regarded among his National Football League quarterback contemporaries.

According to Pro Football Focus, Goff is far from the top five of the NFL in terms of his talents, skills, expected production and abilities. He actually ranks in the middle of the pack among all league quarterbacks.

Fans Upset By Latest Jared Goff Ranking

Many fans were upset by the rankings while others thought the list was well done. Goff’s ranking drew a considerable amount of criticism.

“Jared Goff at 16 is laughable,” one reader said. “A swing and a miss by PFF.”

“Goff at 16 is crazy to me,” another reader added. “Stroud is 10th after only a year? I’d take Goff over Tua as well. I’d take Cousins over Tua.”

Other criticisms centered around the rankings of Burrow and Prescott.

“How on Earth is Burrow ahead of Allen after last season? Allen was playing at an MVP level the second half of the season without even hardly throwing to Diggs and switched offensive coordinators mid-season.”
