Michigan football is moving forward with a new offensive coordinator this season in place of Sherrone Moore, who was named to the head coaching position with Jim Harbaugh now in Los Angeles.

On Friday Tyler Morris, a hero of the 2024 Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, Calif., shared his thoughts on what the offense has been like under Campbell.

He said that he’s “excited” about the changes that have been made under Campbell, who served as Michigan’s QB coach last season.

“I feel like you know, he’s kinda, gonna open the offense more and maybe we’ll throw in some things and try some things that you know, maybe we hadn’t in the past couple years,” Morris said.

“I think that he’s a great coordinator, real smart, and he’s definitely going to give us multiple ways to attack defenses.”

When asked whether the Michigan offense has made any major changes, Morris said that the Wolverines are “trying a lot more” and have “opened the playbook a lot more” since Campbell took the reins as offensive coordinator.

Morris’ growth as a leader

The Bolingbrook, Illinois native said that he has done his best to step up as a leader.

“I’m very comfortable, I think my first two years I got to see guys like Ronnie (Bell), Roman (Wilson) and CJ (Cornelius Johnson) in the room and I kinda sat back and just learned from them.

“I’m trying to take what I saw them do and apply it to his year and, just understanding that I’m one of the older guys in the room this year, you kinda got to be more of a teacher.

“Talking to guys, you know about how to handle certain situations, how to go about studying the playbook, reading defenses, anything I can do to help that I learned from one of them, I’m trying to take and teach some of the younger guys.”

Morris added that he believes 2024-2025 is “(his) year to step up” in the offense and to become the player the coaching staff envisioned as a four-star prospect out of high-school.
