Mike Tyson is debatably the most well known figure in the history of boxing other than perhaps Muhammad Ali.
He is known not just for knocking out his opponents, but also for one infamous incident that occurred on June 28, 1997, when he took a bite out of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their title fight.
Since retiring, Tyson has kept busy, hosting a podcast, facing off against Roy Jones, Jr. in an exhibition match, and becoming a cannabis entrepreneur.
In his early days as a boxing champion, Tyson seemed easily offended.
He verbally sparred with everyone from TV hosts to journalists, and didn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor about himself.
Nowadays, Tyson is much more self-aware and humble, and he’s turning one of his darkest moments into a product that has caught the attention of media nationwide.
Tyson Turns Ear Bite Moment Into New Product Line
The new product, called ‘Mike Bites,’ has been created as part of Tyson’s cannabis brand, Tyson 2.0.
The edibles are now available at dispensaries in three states: California, Massachusetts and Nevada.
As you can see from the picture below, they are shaped like ears that have been bitten off at the lobes, strangely enough.
For those of you who haven’t seen video of Tyson biting Holyfield’s ear off, we will spare you the gruesome footage.
After biting it off, Tyson spit it out onto the canvas.
The new gummies are aimed at promoting relaxation and health instead of carnage.
“These Ears Actually Taste Good”
“These ears actually taste good!” Tyson said on his Twitter account after the edibles were announced.
The popular website Barstool Sports called his new product the “Greatest Branding Move of All-Time.”
“There’s no brainers and then there’s this, the most obvious move in the history of marketing,” the website wrote.
“The cannabis industry is a gold mine right now but what’s severely lacking is brand recognition.”
