Alex Orji is the projected starter at quarterback for the 2024-2025 Michigan football team, but even his lofty status within the defending national champions’ program apparently hasn’t precluded him from being subjected to an error in the early version of the upcoming video game.

According to Orji, who played his high school football in Sachse, Texas, the developers of the upcoming EA Sports College Football 25 video game made a serious mistake in their depiction of him in the recent video game.

Orji’s message to the developers was shared to his 72,800 Instagram followers on Sunday. In it, he calls out EA’s developers in a hilarious way over their decision to give him dreadlocks in the game, saying he has ‘never had dreads before’ with three laughing and crying emojis, as shown below.

College Football 25 Release Date, Trailer

Orji has been shown as the likely starting quarterback in Michigan football clips of the 2025 edition of the popular video game franchise, the first new game release since NCAA Football 14.

The Wolverines’ dreadlocked, star running back Donovan Edwards will be featured on the cover alongside quarterback Quinn Ewers of Texas football, Michigan’s Week Two opponent on September 7 of this year, and Travis Hunter, a cornerback for the Colorado Buffaloes.

The game is expected to be released on July 19 of this year.

The hope for Michigan’s likely starting quarterback this season is that EA Sports manages to catch wind of his comments, and make the correction in time for the game’s nationwide release later this summer.

Orji is a 6-foot-3, 246 pound quarterback who was compared to Alabama Crimson Tide star Jalen Milroe during the lead up to the 2024 Rose Bowl, comments that caused a stir among Alabama and national college football fans who didn’t believe Harbaugh’s comparison was valid.

Orji is entering into his third season as a Michigan Wolverines quarterback but he has completed just one pass for five yards over the duration of his college football career to this date.

Orji has shown tremendous promise as a runner, rushing 21 times for 133 yards on nearly six yards per carry with three touchdowns so far.

Michigan has one of the toughest schedules in the nation this season with games against Texas football, Oregon football, Ohio State football, and USC football all on the docket along with rival Michigan State and the usual assortment of Big Ten and out-of-conference foes. Orji must be sharp, especially considering a potential spoiler team, the Fresno State State Bulldogs, are headed to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines for a Week One showdown.
